One cold sunday morning of recent months, French photographer Alexandre François went with a friend to La Défense, the biggest business district in Paris, where he is currently based. He chose to go there in early hours because it’s the only time of the day when the area is empty, more or less. Then he started shooting at the sleek, modern buildings as well as the older ones that can be found in the district, using selective framing to create bold, abstract compositions. The result is a smart series of photographs called Effet Miroir, which is not too bad for being the product of a Sunday morning worth of work!
Alexandre seems to have a soft spot (and a great eye) for reframing reality in new, refreshing ways, as his many other series demonstrate – you can see them on his website. Moreover, Alexandre is the editor of Seismes, an online platform showcasing fellow photographers who work with a similar approach.
